About Us

The Academy is under the direction of Miriam Jato. She began her career in the Early Childhood field after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies/Early Childhood Education from Saint Xavier University in Chicago. She then ventured off working with Adults and Children with an agency that worked with mentally and physically disabled adults and children. She then decided to embark on owning her own preschool with the assistance of her husband. She opened and operated "Le Bunnies" Child Care Center in Lansing, Illinois for eighteen years. Miriam continued her education in the field and obtained her Master of Arts in Education from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. Ms. Jato decided it was time move, sold the center in Illinois and ventured out to Southwest Florida. She decided to continue in the preschool field and purchased an existing center in Nokomis, FL. "Le Bunnies" Early Learning Academy is located in Sarasota County. Ms. Jato is a member of the Osprey/Nokomis Chamber of Commerce.

Miriam continues to grow and learn with the assistance of Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota and other agencies focusing on the ever so changing needs of children. The major focus other than assisting children with academic skills is the social-emotional needs of each child. Ms. Jato and the educators at "Le Bunnies" help each child develop his/her social and emotional skills. Children who know how to overcome obstacles and adjust to changes in their lives often get along with others and develop other important social-emotional skills. This is very crucial as they need to be resilient in our ever so changing society.

She works diligently to support her staff and families as the children in this school learn and grow each day. She offers communication seven days a week with each family and is always willing to support the staff, children, and families in any way that she can.

She also has experience raising her own daughter who has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is working on her Master's degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Jato continues to instill in her own daughters life that it is okay to fail but to get up and try again and again. Miriam has put her heart and soul into creating "Le Bunnies" Early Learning Academy both in Illinois and currently in Florida.
